Handlebar mount

My new LED torch showed up yesterday, faster than i expected from Hong Kong (hurrah for cheap electronics!).

After buying some rechargeable AAAs for it I need to work out a way of mounting it to my bars...

this one looks good - using old inner tubes to create tension

Daft Punk Costumes

ELwire is brilliant :)

but nowhere to wear it...

Perhaps on a smaller scale, this could be integrated onto a messenger bag, one big spiral, blinking with an arduino?

Messenger Bags

Not that im a Fixie Hipster or anything... but I could really do with a bigger messenger /shoulder strap type bag. I've got a small one that I use regularly that I picked up from TKMAX years ago. However, its absolutely tiny; it must be 15 litres at the most and really can't fit much in it. When I take my climbing gear with me to work it's bursting out of it throughout the day. and that's with my locks dangling on the outside
So I've started using my Arette 35 but its so bloody huge its ridiculous.
Saw Bre do a weekend projects on messenger bags for MAKE: a while ago, using ironed up bin liners and stolen vinyl from supermarkets... nice video guide

Also saw LFGSS has a nice merged post on some of the forumengers attempts
pretty
no linky!

Also some nice project photos here snoop

Bookshelves

Went to read a book lastnight, but realised that it was boxed up and inaccessible.
You see, since moving into the small room a few months ago, i've got a lot less space than i used to have - only the top two shelves of the free standing bookshelf get used, the rest are obscured by my bed... This means most of my books are boxed up in a cupboard. The room itslef has a fairly high ceiling (~3.5m )so shelves on the walls would be a great solution.

Turns out there are tons of great, odd looking ideas

need to keep it full tho...

boing..

loads!!!

Moon for anyone?

anyone have a spare mindstorm kit?

X-prizes everywhere at the moment, and although they're pushing development of new technology for they're still not really obtainable for the lazy backroom hacker. Moonbots however, might just be.

Teams will be asked to submit designs illustrating how they will build, program and operate their robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS robotic kits.
Shame it stared in August.

Now.. where did i put that box of technic...

Word Clock

Looks totally ace.

However, I bet its harder/ slower to read than numbers or hands on an analogue face.
At least you cant get it wrong - I frequently KNOW the time is 5 past when i look at my watch, but will involuntarily say "5 to" when asked...
